Texas State University’s Psi Chi chapter, the international honor society in psychology, has been honored with the Model Chapter Award for 2021-2022.
The Texas State chapter was among 31 so honored this year, out of nearly 1,200 chapters globally.
The Model Chapter Award is intended to recognize, designate and reward healthy and active chapters that demonstrate communication and cooperation with their local communities, their own chapters and the Psi Chi headquarters. The honored chapters are evaluated on nine criteria, which include inducting new members, voting in the annual Psi Chi elections, submitting chapter activity and other annual chapter responsibilities.
The recognition reflects a team of engaged student officers at Texas State who participated in regular meetings and organized meaningful academic social and service activities for the members. Texas State’s chapter was also active within the national society by voting, submitting timely reports and sharing ideas with other chapters.
“I believe we have received this award at least 25 times in our chapter history,” said Psi Chi Faculty Advisor Randall Osborne, a professor in the Department of Psychology. Chapters are eligible to receive the award every year.
