Texas State University Global, in cooperation with Texas House, will host two panel discussions March 13-14 during SXSW 2026.
The Global Innovation Rodeo will begin at 12:30 p.m. on March 13, and the Y’all Street Takeover will begin at noon on March 14. Both events will be held at 304 E. 3rd Street in Austin.
Attendance does not require a SXSW badge, but registration is required. Those who show a TXST ID and have registered will be able to skip the line.
The panel discussions bring together leaders from across TXST’s academic community to highlight how research, entrepreneurship and industry collaboration are shaping what comes next. From advanced manufacturing to information systems, engineering, computer science and media leadership, these conversations reflect the breadth of innovation happening across TXST.
Global Innovation Rodeo
The Global Innovation Rodeo will be held Friday, March 13. The event will kick off at 12:30 p.m. with a performance by TXST’s Mariachi Nueva Generación. The Texas State University Innovation Roundup panel discussion will follow at 1:30 p.m. Judy Oskam, Ph.D., director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, will serve as moderator. Panelists include:
- Tahir Ekin, Ph.D., professor and Endowed Chair in the Department of Information Systems & Analytics
- Sujata Mandal, Ph.D., professor in the Ingram School of Engineering
- Aniruddah Bora, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Computer Science
- Chris Reyes, Ph.D., TXST alumnus and co-founder of Material
Y’all Street Takeover
The Y’all Street Takeover will be held Saturday, March 14. The event will kick off at noon with “The Texas Advantage: Why University-Industry Partnerships Work” panel discussion. Alana Sarabia, director of Corporate Engagement, will serve as moderator. Panelists include:
- Christian Reyes, Keysight Technology, partner account manager
- Blake Lyons, RBFCU, senior vice president of marketing and business development
- John Chartier, TEKsystems, director of business operations
Art from The Wittliff Collection will be on display throughout the venue on both Friday and Saturday.
