Organized by the Translational Health Research Center (THRC), the Health Scholar Showcase is the university’s largest faculty research event.

Texas State University will host the 10th annual Health Scholar Showcase 2-5 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at the Performing Arts Center.

Organized by the Translational Health Research Center (THRC), the Health Scholar Showcase is the university’s largest faculty research event, bringing together researchers, students and community partners to celebrate interdisciplinary collaboration and translational health research.

This year’s theme, Foundations & Frontiers: A Decade of Building Research Together, reflects 10 years of strengthening research foundations through collaboration, partnership and shared impact. The showcase will highlight how TXST researchers and community partners work across disciplines to address complex health challenges and build healthier, more resilient people and places.

The event will feature faculty poster presentations, sponsored research programs and community-engaged projects spanning topics such as mental and behavioral health, AI and technology in healthcare, and public and rural health innovation. Research presented during the poster session will also help identify potential new THRC Faculty Fellows for future collaborative initiatives.

This year’s keynote speaker is Noshir Contractor, Ph.D., an internationally recognized expert in network science, computational social science and organizational behavior. Contractor is known for his work on how networks enable collaboration, innovation and the spread of ideas across teams, institutions and communities.

In his keynote address, Contractor will explore how intentional network building and interdisciplinary collaboration can strengthen research ecosystems, accelerate discovery and amplify the real-world impact of health research.

“The Health Scholar Showcase reflects what is possible when researchers, partners, and communities come together around shared goals,” said Melinda Villagran, Ph.D., executive director of THRC.

“As we celebrate ten years of the showcase, this event highlights the strong ground we’ve built through collaboration—and the momentum we will carry forward into the next decade of health research at Texas State.”

Interested attendees must RSVP for the 2026 Health Scholar Showcase by April 8.
