A new transfer agreement will ensure that coursework completed at LSCS will apply toward earning a TXST bachelor’s degree.

Beginning in Fall 2027, students planning to earn a bachelor’s degree will have clearer pathways to continue their education through a new Guaranteed Transfer Partnership Agreement between Texas State University and Lone Star College System (LSCS).

The agreement outlines approved academic pathways that show how coursework completed at LSCS applies toward a bachelor’s degree at TXST. These pathways help students choose the right courses, understand how their credits apply toward their degree and plan for a successful transition to the university.

Participating LSCS students will be able to choose from among five four-year TXST degrees:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Management
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Finance
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Marketing
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Information Systems (concentration in Business Analytics)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Information Systems (concentration in AI Development)

These five degrees are offered by the McCoy College of Business at TXST. Poets & Quants for Undergrads, one of the nation’s most reputable sources for information on business education, has ranked McCoy College among its Best Undergraduate Business Schools of 2026. In its 2026 ranking for undergraduate business schools, the publication listed McCoy College at No. 89 overall.

Through this partnership, TXST and LSCS are strengthening connections between community college and university education, helping students make informed academic decisions and stay focused on earning a bachelor’s degree.

Lone Star College System and five four-year institutions partnered to offer Guaranteed Transfer Partnership Agreements, giving students a clearer path toward a bachelor’s degree.

Along with TXST, other GTPA partners include Prairie View A&M University, Sam Houston State University, Texas Tech University and University of Houston-Downtown.

The transfer agreement ultimately supports TXST’s goal of expanding guaranteed transfer admission pathways and assured transfer scholarships. Transfer students who follow structured pathways tend to be more focused and successful, contributing to the overall health and vitality of the Texas workforce.
