Texas State hosts 16th annual International Piano Festival

TXST's 16th International Piano Festival returns June 6-14 with acclaimed guest artists, the inaugural Steve Kahng Piano Competition, and a finale concert with the Central Texas Philharmonic.

The Texas State University School of Music will host the 16th annual International Piano Festival June 6–14 in the Performing Arts Center.

This year’s festival will feature internationally acclaimed pianists Christopher Guzman and Spencer Myer, host the final round of the inaugural Steve Kahng Piano Competition, and once again present the winners of the Concerto Competition in a culminating finale concert with the Central Texas Philharmonic.

Concerts and recitals are open to the public. Tickets are available through www.txstatepresents.com.

“Texas State International Piano Festival is excited to return to San Marcos for the 16th TSIPF,” said Jason Kwak, D.M.A., festival director. “Following last year’s landmark debut in Seoul, South Korea—an event met with tremendous success—the festival continues its tradition of artistic excellence and global engagement.”

Myer, professor of piano at the Jacob School of Music at Indiana University, will perform at 7 p.m. on June 11.

The final round of the inaugural Steve Kahng Piano Competition will take place June 8–9, featuring six finalists selected from a competitive international pool. The winner will receive a professional recording session for a full-length album with a guaranteed release from a top music label. The winner will also enjoy the production of two professionally filmed music videos to accompany the album.
