Texas State University marked 20 years of its Round Rock Campus, highlighting rapid enrollment growth, workforce-focused programs, and its expanding role in meeting Central Texas workforce demands.

Texas State University President Kelly Damphousse, Ph.D., joined faculty and staff members and community leaders to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the university’s Round Rock Campus April 24 during the annual State of TXST Round Rock event.

Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan commemorated the anniversary with a proclamation that was placed into a time capsule marking the occasion. A copy of the proclamation will be placed on display in Esperanza Hall for public viewing.

“While we have two campuses separated by about 60 miles, Round Rock is not a copy of San Marcos. It’s not meant to be,” Damphousse said. “Round Rock is a metropolitan workforce campus where students are being prepared to thrive in an AI-driven world.

Everything we do here is focused on one outcome: helping students move from education into meaningful careers, right here in Central Texas.”

The Round Rock Campus is being developed with intentionality, focusing on four areas: Health, Technology, Business and Public Service. Those sectors are driving growth in the North Austin region, including Round Rock and Williamson County. TXST Round Rock graduates are poised to fill that increased demand.

Damphousse highlighted the Round Rock Campus’ growth: During the fall 2025 semester, Round Rock served more than 2,900 students, a 65% increase in two years, through in-person courses, online, or a combination of both. For spring 2026, Round Rock enrollment exceeded 3,400 students, which is nearly a 50% increase from the previous year.

Those trends look to continue in the future. Fall 2026 applications are approaching 4,100—a significant increase of more than 50% from fall 2025 as TXST builds the Round Rock Campus to be a strategic engine for access, workforce alignment, and institutional growth.
