Bobcats are invited to leave their mark on campus by designing a new Texas State University Police patrol vehicle. The winning design earns a grand prize and recognition at the official unveiling.

Texas State University is calling on the Bobcat community to help shape the future look of its police fleet through a new initiative, Project Patrol, a design competition aimed at blending Bobcat pride with modern safety and visibility standards.

Open to students, faculty, staff, and alumni, Project Patrol invites participants to submit original vehicle graphic concepts that reflect the university’s spirit while enhancing the presence and effectiveness of the TXST Police Department (UPD). The initiative underscores the university’s continued evolution and commitment to ensuring its public safety resources keep pace.

“Our vehicles are more than just transport; they are a symbol of our commitment to this community,” said UPD Chief Matthew Carmichael. “We want a design that reflects the pride, professionalism, and spirit of Texas State University.”

Submissions must adhere to official TXST brand guidelines, including approved colors and logos, and incorporate key safety elements such as “EMERGENCY 911” labeling. Designs must also maintain the vehicle’s black factory paint, as full wraps are not permitted.

Following the submission deadline, the campus community will have the opportunity to participate in a public voting process. While community input will serve as a primary guide, the final design selection will be made by UPD Command Staff, to ensure the brand maintains creativity with technical considerations such as high-visibility safety standards and long-term maintenance.

The competition offers a range of incentives, including a grand prize award to be revealed at the official unveiling, a Legacy Award plaque and Guest of Honor status at the fleet launch ceremony.

Project Patrol entries are due by May 15, 2026, with public voting set to begin on May 18. The winning design will be announced on June 1, culminating in a high-profile unveiling event that will introduce the next generation of Texas State police vehicles.
