Bestselling author Nnedi Okorafor will hold a public reading followed by a book signing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Texas State University’s Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center.
The event is free and open to the public and will take place at the KAP Literary Center, 508 W. Center St. in Kyle.
A global leader of Africanfuturism, Okorafor is a New York Times bestselling author whose work spans speculative fiction for adults, young adults and children. Her latest adult novel, Death of the Author—praised by George R.R. Martin as “her best work yet”—examines fame, the Nigerian diaspora, disability, the writer’s life, artificial intelligence and robots. Her all-ages graphic novel, The Space Cat, was published in 2025, and the final book in her She Who Knows trilogy, The Daughter Who Remains, is scheduled for release in 2026.
Okorafor’s acclaimed body of work includes the groundbreaking Binti trilogy, the novel Who Fears Death and the Nsibidi Scripts series, all of which have been optioned for the screen. She is also the author of Marvel titles including Black Panther: Long Live the King, Shuri and Wakanda Forever. Her honors include the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature, as well as Nebula, World Fantasy, Locus, Eisner and multiple Hugo and Lodestar awards.
Born in the United States to Nigerian Igbo immigrant parents, Okorafor draws heavily from African cultures to craft richly imagined worlds and unforgettable characters. She holds a Ph.D. in literature and two master’s degrees in journalism and literature.
