Texas State University will offer electrical engineering as a bachelor of science degree option at the TXST Round Rock Campus beginning in Fall 2027.
The new program was announced during the dedication of Esperanza Hall on Aug. 19.
“In Round Rock, we are expanding our campus with the needs of the community in mind, focusing on high-demand sectors like health, technology, business and public service,” said TXST President Kelly Damphousse, Ph.D. “Making engineering degrees available on this campus is a win-win, increasing the number of capable graduates who will effectively fill much-needed positions throughout the region.”
The program will launch with three concentrations: computer engineering, nanotechnology and network communication. A fourth concentration in power and energy is expected to be added in the ensuing years.

“Launching an engineering program at Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus is an important step for this community and the students we serve,” said Julie Lessiter, Ph.D., vice president of TXST Round Rock. “Central Texas is one of the most dynamic centers for technology, innovation, and advanced industry in the nation and we are committed to preparing the next generation of talent to meet the growing demands of the regional workforce.”
TXST’s electrical engineering program is designed to provide students with the mathematics, science, management, engineering, and applications skills needed to work in various industries designing and producing electrical and electronic devices, systems, and services. Electrical engineers also are involved in many large-scale multi-disciplinary projects in aerospace, automobiles, computer systems, construction, instrumentation, health services, and other areas.
The TXST electrical engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
