Alkek Library and the LBJ Student Center (LBJSC) at Texas State University will be closed to the public May 18-25, 2026, due to scheduled building maintenance affecting the facilities’ air conditioning units.
Although offices at LBJSC will be closed, the election polling location will remain open during this time. Voters may enter LBJSC from the bus loop entrance on the northeast side of the building.
The closure also impacts the Alumni and Future Student Welcome Center at LBJSC. Guided campus tours will not be available. Visitors are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the San Marcos Campus.
The Wittliff Collections, located on the 7th floor of Alkek, will not be open to visitors.
Other buildings that will experience significant changes to climate control include:
- Jackson Hall
- Jones Dining Center
- Matthews Street Garage
- Tower Hall
Regular operations and public access will resume on May 26. TXST appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as this work is completed to help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for visitors and staff.
Should there be any changes to this closure, updates will be posted on TXST’s Safety and Communications site.
