The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) chapter at Texas State University will host the Julia Robinson Math Festival (JRMF) April 25 at the San Marcos Public Library.
The event will run noon–4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
JRMF is a nonprofit initiative dedicated to sharing a fun, hands-on and engaging math experience with students across the country. The festival brings together STEM organizations at TXST and the greater San Marcos community to celebrate Math and Statistics Awareness Month while making mathematics accessible, exciting and meaningful for local students and families.
The festival will feature engaging math games such as skyscrapers, cup stacking and the four-color challenge, along with many student led-booths from the College of Education, Department of Physics, Ingram School of Engineering, McCoy College of Business and other organizations with hands-on activities designed for children ages around 5 and up.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Parking is readily available at the San Marcos Public Library, and volunteers will be stationed throughout the venue to help ensure a safe, welcoming and organized environment.
The JRMF event is hosted by SIAM in collaboration with the TXST Department of Mathematics and the San Marcos Public Library.
