TXST and UTSA aim to reach 3,000 donors to support campus food pantries and unlock a $30,000 gift to help students experiencing food insecurity.

Texas State University and the University of Texas San Antonio are partnering for the third annual Huddle Against Hunger Together in advance of their Sept. 12 football game.

Huddle Against Hunger Together is a joint effort to reach 3,000 donors. Once that number is reached, Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union has pledged an additional $30,000 to the effort, with $15,000 going to each university’s campus food pantry for student food assistance.

“Huddle Against Hunger Together is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together with generosity and gratitude,” said Brooks Hull, vice president for University Advancement at TXST. “We are deeply thankful for every donor, supporter and partner who chooses to invest in the well-being and success of our students.

“While Texas State and UT San Antonio may be rivals on the field, we are united in our appreciation for those who help ensure that no student has to choose between pursuing an education and meeting their basic needs,” he said. “Every gift, at every level, is an act of generosity that strengthens our students, our universities and the communities we serve. We are grateful to everyone who joins us in making that possible.”

TXST fans can give to either Bobcat Bounty on the San Marcos Campus or The Pantry on the Round Rock Campus. Gifts of every size will help provide meals and essential resources for students experiencing food insecurity, while encouraging Bobcats, Roadrunners, alumni and fans to come together for a shared purpose.
