Texas State University dedicated Esperanza Hall at its Round Rock Campus, expanding classroom space and paving the way for new programs, including electrical engineering in 2027.

Texas State University dedicated the new Esperanza Hall on the Round Rock Campus Aug. 19.

The $52.4 million, 81,600-square-foot facility includes a tiered lecture hall, general classrooms, study spaces, lounge areas, conference rooms and vending on the first floor. The second and third floors are incomplete shell space, reserved for future build-out.

“Texas State is committed to the future of the Round Rock campus, Williamson County, and the entire Austin to Waco corridor,” said Texas State University President Kelly Damphousse, Ph.D. “We are building a campus that will grow with this community, creating new opportunities for our students, and preparing graduates to meet the workforce needs of one of the most dynamic regions in Texas. Esperanza Hall is an important step forward, and we are only getting started.”

The new building gives the Round Rock Campus much-needed flexibility to accommodate growing enrollment and new programs. The first floor will provide large lecture halls and classrooms, which the Round Rock Campus previously lacked. Future build-outs will create a student learning commons and faculty offices on the second floor and science laboratory space on the third floor.

TXST announced during the dedication that the Round Rock Campus would begin offering electrical engineering degrees beginning in Fall 2027.

“Esperanza means ‘hope,’ and I can’t think of a better name for a building that represents the future of Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus,” said Julie Lessiter, Ph.D., vice president of TXST Round Rock. “Esperanza Hall is more than a new building, it is an investment in our students, our community, and the generations who will come after us. It reflects the extraordinary growth of this campus and our commitment to creating opportunities that transform lives through education.”

The project architects are BGK Architects and the contractor is Joeris Construction.

The Round Rock Campus is located at 1555 University Boulevard in Round Rock.
