TXST’s Office of International Affairs to host International Education Week Nov. 17-21

The Office of International Affairs at TXST will host International Education Week from Nov. 17-21 to celebrate the importance of international education with a variety of events throughout the week.

The Office of International Affairs at Texas State University will host International Education Week from Nov. 17-21 to celebrate the importance of international education with a variety of events throughout the week.

From learning about the passport process and education abroad opportunities to participating in dance classes and a trivia night, TXST students, staff, and faculty are invited to attend and learn more about the university’s international efforts.

“International Education Week is an exciting and meaningful opportunity for all of us to explore and appreciate the rich cultures, ideas, and perspectives that make our campus a truly global community,” said Mallory Sluder, associate vice president for International Affairs. “This national celebration highlights the importance of international exchange, global learning, and the value of cross-cultural experiences that prepare us to thrive in an interconnected world."

Some of the week’s events include:

  • External Funding for Graduate Students: Nov. 18, 10-11:30 a.m., Alkek Library, Room 441-442
    • Join The Graduate College to learn about external funding for study and research abroad featuring panelists Dustin Sanchez, Keegan Beane, Pema Khandu, and Mai Bui. There will be snacks and a raffle.
  • International Flag Parade: Nov. 18, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., LBJ Student Center Mall
    • Celebrate the countries that are represented on our campus. See a colorful parade of flags representing countries from all over the world and show your school spirit.
  • Texas State Intensive English Class Demo: Nov. 19, 6-8 p.m., Alkek Library, 3rd Floor Theater
    • Sit in on a special demo session of an intensive English class and meet an instructor, experience interactive activities, and get a taste of how the university helps students build language skills and confidence.
  • Speed Language Learning and Movie Night: Nov. 21, 4-6:30 p.m., Centennial Building, Room 02
    • Kick off the night by practicing new languages in a fun, “speed-dating” style activity for a chance to learn from friends around the world followed by an international movie and snacks.
