TXST Round Rock Campus sponsors Chamber of Commerce legislative session review

Dr. Jennifer Irvin, TXST’s Interim Executive Director of STAR Park, joined a panel of experts at the 88th Legislative Session Executive Review. STAR Park is a 58-acre site that hosts TXST’s technology incubator dedicated to research and commercialization.

The Round Rock Chamber and YTexas hosted the 88th Legislative Session Executive Review event at Kalahari Resort-Round Rock on June 29. The event featured CEOs and founders of Texas companies, economic development leaders, legislators and Texas state officials. 

The Texas State University Round Rock Campus sponsored a breakout session on the role of higher education in workforce development. Dr. Jennifer Irvin, TXST’s Interim Executive Director of STAR Park joined a panel of experts. Dr. Janet Bezner, Interim Vice President-Round Rock Campus, professor and chair in the Department of Physical Therapy, provided welcome remarks.

The event featured keynotes and panelists discussing the results of the session and its implications for businesses in Texas. Experts discussed key legislation and initiatives in the areas of economic development, tourism, education, workforce, infrastructure as well as deployment of the record $300+ billion biennial balanced budget. The 88th Texas Legislative Regular Session adjourned on May 29 bringing a record budget for the 2024-2025 biennium.
