Texas State hosts 31st annual hostage negotiation competition

SAN MARCOS – Law enforcement officers from across the country have converged on Texas State University for the 31st Annual Competition and Seminar for Crisis Negotiations, which runs January 12-14.

The program is not open to the public.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, participation is limited to eight teams this year. All teams are adhering to university protocols to mitigate COVID risk.   

Teams are conducting mock hostage negotiation exercises from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday. Monday and Tuesday schedules focus on classroom sessions.
