Enrollment for the 2025 spring semester at Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus grew 21% over spring 2024 enrollment, reaching 2,193 students.
This contributed to TXST setting a new spring semester enrollment record overall, with a total enrollment of 37,567 students at both Round Rock and San Marcos. This is the first time TXST has surpassed 37,000 for the spring semester. It is also in line with the university’s goal of growing Round Rock enrollment to 10,000 by 2030.
Significantly, the TXST College of Health Professions saw a 16.4% increase, or 620 students, over the previous year for a total enrollment of 4,405. The St. David’s School of Nursing and other programs within the College of Health Professions are based at the Round Rock Campus.
“Texas State University Round Rock campus’ continued enrollment growth reflects our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible education that meets the evolving needs of Central Texas,” said Julie Lessiter, Ph.D., vice president of Texas State Round Rock. “We take great pride in offering opportunities that not only empower our students but also provide the next generation of workforce by producing graduates in high-demand industries such as healthcare, technology and public service.”
The spring enrollment growth follows a dynamic 2024 for the Round Rock Campus, which was named “Business of the Year” by the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce in February. TXST introduced a pathway for students to begin and finish their degrees enrolled at the Round Rock Campus. This new option will be a significant benefit for the Williamson County/North Travis County area, giving students who live there a chance to earn a TXST degree without the expense of moving or commuting to the San Marcos Campus.
For the fall 2024 semester, 10 new degree programs were added to Round Rock’s offerings, bringing the total number of programs available there to 26. With the Austin metropolitan area projected to reach 3 million by 2030 and 4.5 million by 2045, there is unprecedented opportunity for the Round Rock Campus to host much of TXST’s future growth.
In December, TXST broke ground on Esperanza Hall, the first new academic building to be constructed at the Round Rock Campus since Willow Hall opened in 2018. The $52.4 million, 81,600-square-foot facility will include a tiered lecture hall, general classrooms, study spaces, lounge areas, a conference room and vending. The initial construction will include the build-out of classrooms, study and lounge space on the first floor. The second and third floors will be shell space reserved for future build-out. University officials expect the building to be operational by fall 2026.
