Texas State University and San Jacinto College have announced a co-enrollment partnership offering students a seamless path to earning a bachelor’s degree from TXST.
The new program will be offered on the San Jacinto College South Campus beginning fall 2026.
Participants will benefit from targeted, personalized support and early efforts to foster a sense of belonging across institutions, helping them save money and complete their bachelor’s degrees in a timely manner.
“As a first-generation college student who began at a community college, I understand the life-changing impact of opportunities like this,” said TXST President Kelly Damphousse, Ph.D. “At TXST, we are committed to making higher education accessible and attainable for every driven and deserving student. That’s why we are proud to partner with San Jacinto College—to help more students achieve their goals and reach their full potential.”
The agreement, signed by Damphousse and by San Jacinto College Chancellor Brenda Hellyer, Ed.D., will provide bachelor’s degree options close to home for San Jacinto College students; streamline pathways for degree completion; optimize opportunities for reverse transfer degree completion; and reduce excess credit hours, time to degree completion and total costs.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Texas State University to provide more students the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degrees right here at San Jacinto College,” said Hellyer. “Through this agreement we will work toward ensuring that we have the appropriate staff and resources in place to successfully kick off this program in fall 2026. This partnership reflects our commitment to providing high quality education that supports student success at every step in their academic journey.”
The TXST co-enrollment agreement will save students thousands of dollars on specific bachelor’s degrees. Participating students must apply and be admitted to both institutions and will be able to fully complete select four-year TXST degrees on the San Jacinto College South Campus:
- Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Management
- Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Finance
- Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Marketing
- Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) Major in Information Systems (concentration in Business Analytics and/or AI)
These four degrees are offered by the McCoy College of Business at TXST. Poets & Quants for Undergrads, one of the nation’s most reputable sources for information on business education, has ranked McCoy College among its Best Undergraduate Business Schools of 2025. In its new 2025 ranking for undergraduate business schools, the publication has listed McCoy College at No. 75 overall, placing the business school at No. 4 among public universities in Texas, and No. 30 among all public universities in the U.S.
Beginning fall 2025, after earning 60 credit hours, students in the concurrent enrollment program will receive a $4,000 TXST Local Award. The award will be disbursed $1,000 per semester for up to four consecutive semesters or the earning of a bachelor’s degree (whichever comes first). Students transferring from San Jacinto College to on-campus courses at TXST San Marcos or Round Rock campuses will be eligible for assured transfer merit awards based on their cumulative college GPA in transferable coursework at the time of transfer.
Participating students will enjoy an array of benefits, including access to student services at both San Jacinto College and TXST, such as coordinated academic advising, libraries, computer labs, counseling services and sporting events.
In fall 2026, co-enrollment participants will also be offered free tickets to select TXST home football games.
