That enrollment surge set several additional records as well, led by a freshman class of nearly 9,400 students (a 15% increase) and 5,200 graduate students (a 25.4% increase). The total number of new students attending TXST—including freshmen, transfers and graduate students—topped 14,400, a 17% increase over the previous record set in fall 2024.
These are preliminary numbers from the first day of class. Enrollment numbers are final on the 12th day of the fall semester.
Several other notable records were set as well. TXST Round Rock set a new enrollment record with 2,900 students, a 32% increase from 2024 and besting the previous record of 2,297 set in 2019.
The Graduate College saw a record number of new students pursuing master’s degrees (nearly 1,600, up 33.2%) and doctorates (more than 170, up 27.2%) contributing to a total graduate enrollment of more than 5,200, a 25.4% increase from 2024 and shattering a record that has stood since 2010.
International enrollment grew past 2,100 students, a 37.8% increase to break the record set in 2024.
Online enrollment climbed 76% from the previous year, exceeding 3,900 students for the first time.
Significantly, freshman-to-sophomore retention currently sits at 80.3%, itself another record.
The College of Science and Engineering continues to attract the most majors at TXST, with nearly 9,800 students enrolled for fall 2025, a 9.8% increase and a new record. The McCoy College of Business’ record enrollment of more than 6,200 students, an 19.1% increase, makes it the second largest college at TXST. The College of Health Professions saw the largest enrollment increase of any TXST college with 27.2% growth, setting a new record with nearly 5,900 students.
Over the course of 2025, TXST completed co-enrollment partnerships with Texas community colleges San Jacinto College in east Harris County, Dallas College in Dallas, Collin College in McKinney and Lamar State College Orange in Orange, along with guaranteed transfer agreements with Central Texas College in Killeen, Lee College in Baytown, Tarrant College in Fort Worth and Temple College in Temple. These mutually beneficial agreements have made TXST bachelor’s degrees more accessible to thousands of students and the university is currently negotiating with additional community colleges throughout Texas. Bats to Cats, a guaranteed transfer program established with Austin Community College in 2024, delivered its first cohort of students to TXST this fall as well.
