Texas State University has joined the prestigious Davis United World College Scholars Program.

Davis UWC Scholars is the largest privately funded international scholarship program in the world for undergraduates, having supported more than 15,900 United World College graduates from 164 countries on the campuses of U.S. partner institutions. TXST becomes a Davis UWC Scholars Program partner school with the incoming freshman class of 2025 having an expected graduation date of 2029.

“We are honored to become a Partner School with the Davis United World College Scholars Program, a partnership that reflects TXST’s commitment to global engagement, academic excellence and life-changing education,” said Kelly Damphousse, president of TXST. “Through this collaboration, we welcome outstanding graduates of the United World Colleges—young leaders from more than 160 countries—who bring with them exceptional academic preparation, rich international perspectives and a strong track record of leadership.

“These students will enrich our university community in countless ways, both inside and outside the classroom,” he said. “With support from the Davis Foundation, we’re proud to expand educational access for these remarkable scholars and to create an even more impactful learning environment at TXST.”

The first cohort of three Davis UWC Scholars will arrive at TXST for the fall 2025 semester. They will pursue a diverse range of majors, including theatre, psychology and business.

The Davis UWC Scholars Program fosters globally engaged students and communities on U.S. college campuses, providing need-based financial aid to graduates of 18 United World College high schools. Co-founded by philanthropist Shelby Davis and international educator Phil Geier in 2000, the program aims to support exceptional students and transform U.S. colleges into more globally engaged spaces. Scholars study at nearly 100 partner institutions nationwide, representing more than 160 countries.

A key component of the Davis UWC Scholars Program experience is IB education. IB education, offered by the International Baccalaureate (IB), is a global education framework designed to foster critical thinking, inquiry-based learning and international-mindedness in students. IB education aims to develop well-rounded individuals with the skills and knowledge to succeed in higher education and beyond.

Davis UWC Scholars arrive at American colleges and universities with outstanding academic abilities, as well as a proven capacity to build relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds. They pursue leadership roles in their collegiate communities, home countries and the professional world. Upon graduation, they enter the workforce as energetic agents of change.
