Texas State University will launch a new Autism Support Program (ASP) beginning in Fall 2025. The project is supported by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Student Success Acceleration Program (SSAP) 2.0 grant.

The program was developed and piloted during the 2024-2025 academic year and aligns with TXST’s broader mission to create a campus culture where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.

“We hope this program will allow these students to achieve their personal, academic, and post-graduation goals,” said Gavin Steiger, director for Disability Services.

The ASP will offer individualized coaching and workshops focused on executive functioning, social communication, and self-advocacy. The program also includes faculty and staff training to foster a more inclusive and supportive campus environment.

The SSAP’s goal is to support students’ persistence and completion of credentials of value leading to successful career and labor market outcomes. The ASP initiative is designed to empower neurodiverse students by providing tailored academic, social, and career support throughout their university journey.

Enrollment in the Autism Support Program is free and open to all TXST students who are registered with Disability Services and diagnosed with autism. Interested students and families can learn more by emailing Disability Services or by visiting the Disability Services website.
