Texas State University Libraries is offering a new workshop called Virtual Production and Filmmaking Best Practices, an addition to their micro-credentialing workshop series. The workshop is being offered in conjunction with the recent grand opening of the Alkek Laboratory for Innovative Arts and Sciences (ALIAS) Virtual Production Studio designed to meet the filmmaking and digital storytelling needs of the campus community.
Those who participate in the four-part workshop will learn how to prepare for a shoot, effectively use a camera, utilize lighting equipment and techniques, capture clear audio, and learn best practices for filming on an LED volume wall. The workshop offers classroom instruction as well as hands-on learning opportunities inside the ALIAS studio.
Located on the first floor of Alkek Library, the immersive video production studio features state-of-the-art equipment including a 30-foot video wall composed of LED panels, a 6K-resolution camera, and innovative audiovisual equipment. More suites are expected to be added to the ALIAS lab in the future including a digital audio studio and an immersive exhibition gallery.
The ALIAS studio is available at no cost to faculty, staff and students. Individuals must complete the video production micro-credential workshop in order to gain access to the lab. To register for a workshop or book a tour of the lab, visit the ALIAS Virtual Production Studio website.
