Texas State University (TXST) has set several new enrollment records for the spring 2024 semester, led by a record 31,704 undergraduate students, a 3% increase over the previous year.

Overall, TXST reported total enrollment of 35,378 students for spring 2024, also a 3% increase over 2023.

Other new enrollment records include:

  • First-time undergraduate enrollment, i.e., freshmen, is up an impressive 59% from spring 2023
  • International student enrollment increased 43% to 1,030
  • Total student credit hours, a measure of how many classes students are taking, is up 6% to 437,040

One of the most impressive numbers of the spring semester is a persistence rate of 93.3% for first-time college students. This measure, considered an important indicator of academic success, tracks the number of first-time students who enrolled in the fall semester and returned in the spring to continue their education.

Other areas with significant enrollment jumps included the Ph.D. programs at TXST, with 528 students pursuing their doctorates, a 16% increase from 2023. Enrollment at TXST’s Round Rock Campus also reflected a notable increase, climbing 7.6% to 1,809.
