Texas State climbs 7 spots in U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2025

Texas State University is was listed U.S. News and World Report’s Best National Universities ranking for 2025.

Texas State University jumped seven spots on U.S. News and World Report’s Best National Universities ranking for 2025, tying for No. 273 on the list. 

In addition to the overall list, Texas State achieved rankings in several sub-categories:

  • No. 152 among Top Public Schools;
  • No. 167 for Top Performers in Social Mobility (tie); 
  • No. 218 (tie) in Undergraduate Nursing;
  • Made the 191-209 ranking range for Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs;
  • No. 256 in Undergraduate Computer Science;
  • No. 316 (tie) in Undergraduate Business Programs; 
  • Made the 293-318 ranking range for Undergraduate Economics;
  • Made the 500-681 ranking range for Undergraduate Psychology Programs. 

Schools in the National Universities category offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and Ph.D. programs. U.S. News surveyed nearly 1,500 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality to compile the list.
