The IDEA Center at Texas State University has won the 2024 Program of Promise Award from the National Organization for Student Success (NOSS).

The award recognizes programs using best practices to promote student success and development while exemplifying the NOSS mission of providing holistic support to facilitate student success, retention and completion. NOSS Programs of Promise are identified as models for other institutional programs wishing to increase student success on their campuses.

The IDEA (Innovation, Discovery, Exploration and Analysis) Center was created as part of the quality enhancement plan for the current accreditation cycle with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The IDEA Center offers student development workshops, advice and guidance on applying for national fellowships and other external funding sources. It also offers course-based, mentored research experiences for undergraduate students—particularly for students who are underrepresented in research opportunities and may not have access to areas on campus like the Honors program where undergraduate research is traditionally conducted.

NOSS was founded in 1976 as a means of offering annual professional development for faculty and staff in the fields of postsecondary developmental education and student support. NOSS has thousands of members across 391 institutions in the United States, with 23 state and regional chapters. Its mission is to ensure that faculty, staff and learning centers have the necessary resources and training to meet with success.
