SETI researcher Chenoa Tremblay to deliver ‘Math In Space’ keynote

Chenoa Tremblay, Ph.D., a project scientist at the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute, will deliver the keynote address during the “Math In Space and the Unbreakable Bonds of STEM” event on April 19 at Texas State University in observance of Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will run 2-4 p.m. in Derrick Hall room 113.

Tremblay will discuss the connections in modern science between mathematics, physics and astronomy and the non-standard route she took in her own career to study these topics. She will also cover her current research—the study of stars, chemistry and the prevalence of intelligent life in the universe while also building large digital systems and supercomputers.

With SETI, Tremblay serves as project scientist for the Commensal Open-Source Multimode Interferometer Cluster (COSMIC) on the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array which is designed to complete an all-sky search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Prior to this role, she worked at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, the Australian national science agency. She has more than 20 years of experience working in industry research and development in the field of analytical chemistry.
