Texas State University | July 13, 2023
Round Rock ranks No. 1 on a list of the most desirable places to live in the United States, according to a “Today” show countdown of booming cities.
Round Rock — the home of Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus — took the top spot based on the factors of schools, outdoor life, cost of living, job security, community/diversity and growth. Cities rounding out the top five were Sarasota, Florida; Tacoma, Washington; Bridgeport, Connecticut; and Raleigh, North Carolina.
Frances Katzen, a real estate expert and broker with Douglas Elliman who was interviewed on “Today,” called Round Rock “a little bit of a secret.” She noted the economic drivers of Dell, Switch, and Emerson, as well as Round Rock’s school system and residents’ proximity to parks.
“If you missed out on the frenzy of Austin, which was the No. 1 place to live in 2022, you can get your fix here,” Katzen said.
The “Today” ranking comes on the heels of Round Rock’s recognition as the best place to live in the U.S. by Bankrate. Bankrate’s recognition noted that 80 percent of Round Rock residents live within a 10-minute walk of a public park and report high ratings for well-being.
