NPR’s Erika Aguilar to deliver Mass Comm Week keynote address

NPR Executive Producer Erika Aguilar will deliver the keynote address during Mass Communication Week at Texas State University, which runs Oct. 3-7.

Aguilar, a Texas State alumna, will deliver her address at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Alkek Teaching Theater. She will discuss her professional journey and experiences leading NPR's national morning news on Morning Edition and Up First. Aguilar will also participate TV and Radio News panel at 1:45 p.m. Oct. 7 in Old Main 230. Her visit is sponsored the Department of History and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Mass Communication Week is a weeklong conference that brings together professionals and students to discuss the evolving media industry. The annual event offers the opportunity for students and faculty to network with top leaders in journalism, media and strategic communication.

Session topics include Journey from Student to CEO, Getting Freelance & Part-Time Journalism Jobs as a Student, Dow Jones News Fund Test Prep, Breaking into the PR Industry, Great Advertising Depends on DE&I, Evolution of Radio and TV Journalism, Digital Content and Social Strategy and much more.

Texas State President Kelly Damphousse is also a featured speaker during Mass Comm Week. On Saturday, KTSW 89.9/KAT Radio Alumni Reunion and Hall of Fame Inductions will celebrate the 30th anniversary of KTSW 89.9 and 40 years since the beginning of KAT Radio.
