Texas State University Names Brooks Hull Vice President for University Advancement

Following an extensive national search, Brooks Hull has been named Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA) at Texas State University.  

Hull comes to Texas State from Louisiana Tech University where he was Vice President for University Advancement and Chief Executive Officer for the Louisiana Tech University Foundation. Hull will start at Texas State January 1, 2023. 

“I want to thank the VPUA Search Committee and WittKieffer executive search firm for their diligence in creating an excellent candidate pool of finalists,” said Texas State President Kelly Damphousse. “I am excited to welcome Brooks and his wife Kerri to the Texas State family. Brooks brings 25 years of advancement leadership to our VPUA position. He has helped lead four highly successful capital campaigns, and he currently serves as the director of his university’s private foundation. I am confident that he is the right person to enhance our advancement operations, including alumni relations and management of the Texas State University Foundation. I am excited for what’s NEXT for our university with the addition of Brooks’ broad experience, enthusiasm, and expertise.” 

Since 2015, Hull has served as Vice President for University Advancement at Louisiana Tech University and Chief Executive Officer for the Louisiana Tech University Foundation. Between 2010 and 2015, he was Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Austin College. In these roles, he has been responsible for providing strategic leadership; overseeing all academic and athletic fundraising programs; developing and managing staff who are responsible for institutional fundraising, alumni engagement, and foundation operations; developing and executing fundraising campaigns; and implementing development programs and student philanthropy programs.   

Hull also served 12 years at the University of Oklahoma in various capacities, including as Executive Director of Development in the College of Engineering, and Director of Development in the Colleges of Engineering, Architecture, and Education. Prior to his service to higher education, Hull served as Director of Community Development for the Chamber of Commerce in Norman, Oklahoma.

I see a very bright future for Texas State University, and it is a great personal honor to be part of building that future.”   

Hull earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs and Administration and a Master of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.
