Spring 2021 issue of Hillviews available online

The new issue of Hillviews, the magazine for Texas State University, is now available in print and digital format.

The spring issues focuses on programs and faculty in the College of Liberal Arts: the M.F.A. in Creative Writing, the B.A. Religious Studies, and features faculty in the Department of History.

Also, inside is an interview with Dr. Sanjay Ramchander who took over in 2020 as dean of the McCoy College of Business Administration. In “Hard work and humility” readers will discover some of the lessons Ramchander learned on his path to Texas State. Assistant professor of ceramics Jennifer Ling Datchuk answers the faculty Q&A about her work and awards in this creative field. Retired music professor Dr. Tim Woolsey found a new creative outlet when he began painting portraits. It was his love of art that turned a collecting hobby into donating art to the Texas State Galleries.

Several proud Bobcats are featured in this issue. Pam Cox (B.A. ’92), is an executive with Whataburger who works in brand communication. Musician Zack Kibodeaux (B.F.A. ’00), heads up the band Blue Water Highway. Texas beef cattle rancher Rachel Wilson (B.S. ’13) turned her family business into a direct-to-consumer enterprise. Mona Patel (M.S.W. ’00) established the San Antonio Amputee Foundation to advocate for her fellow amputees. Rodney Bursiel (B.B.A. ’93) found success behind the camera as a wildlife and outdoor photographer.

This issue also entices readers to visit The Wittliff Collections' new Texas Music Gallery on the seventh floor of the Albert B. Alkek Library on the San Marcos Campus, and the History of Ranching mural on the library’s second floor. The mural created by Buck Winn Jr. has been rescued and restored to its former glory.
