
Arzu Ari, Ph.D., associate dean for research in the College of Health Professions and TSUS Regents’ Professor in the Department of Respiratory Care at Texas State University, has been named recipient of the 2025 Toshihiko Koga, MD Medal.
Ari will be honored and presented the medal on Dec. 7 during the International Council for Respiratory Care (ICRC) Annual Business Meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.
Named in honor of Dr. Toshihiko Koga, a distinguished physician, educator and pioneer in global respiratory care, this medal represents the highest recognition the ICRC bestows. It is awarded to an individual whose exemplary leadership, dedication and international impact have significantly advanced the art and science of respiratory therapy worldwide.
Ari was honored for her outstanding contributions to education, research and advocacy in respiratory care, which embody the spirit of Dr. Koga’s legacy. Through her work, she has advanced not only the profession, but also the quality of care delivered to patients across the globe.
