School of Music graduate wins Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound

 Texas State University graduate Brad Engleking (B.F.A. ’00) won the 2022 News and Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound on the Apple TV+ documentary “Fathom.”  

Since graduating from Texas State, Engleking has worked on a range of projects, including the 2002 collaboration with director Robert Rodriguez at Troublemaker Studios on the film “Spy Kids 2.”   

His career has included work on films such as Rodriguez's “Sin City,” James Cameron’s “Alita Battle Angel,” and Terrence Malick's “A Hidden Life.”   

Engleking has served on multiple SXSW panels and his work can be seen at film festivals around the world. He also has produced several Pro Sound Effects tutorial videos with more than 45,000 views on YouTube. 

Outside of his partnership with Rodriguez, Engleking likes to work with young, aspiring directors on independent films. He has also lectured and taught courses at Texas State's Sound Recording Technology and at the University of Texas at Austin.
