Distinguished alumna honored with Executive Leaders Award

Distinguished Texas State University alumna and Texas State University Development Foundation Board Member, Carrie Hurt (B.A. ’87), has been awarded an Executive Leader Award by the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.
The Executive Leader Award recognizes Austin's CEOs and site leaders. Hurt received the award due to her position as president and CEO of Better Business Bureau Inc., a business recommendation organization that provides certified and unbiased information on brands, businesses, and charities, allowing consumers to build trust with merchants.
The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce awards honor businesses and the leadership teams of Austin companies. Award recipients are selected by an independent panel of judges.
Hurt has been the president and CEO of Better Business Bureau Inc. for more than 14 years. In 2020, the company won 21st place in the 100 top workplaces in Austin by the Austin American-Statesman. During her time at Texas State, Hurt majored in electronic media and in 2018 was appointed to the Council of Better Business Bureaus Board of Directors.
