Texas State University has been recognized as a Top Veteran School for 2026 by U.S. Veterans Magazine, highlighting the university’s commitment to supporting veterans and transitioning service members as they pursue higher education and prepare for their next careers.

The annual Top Veteran Schools list recognizes institutions that demonstrate a commitment to serving military-connected students. U.S. Veterans Magazine evaluates institutions through formal surveys and independent research, considering factors such as public engagement, institutional reputation and verified practices.

The magazine examines an institution’s long-term commitment to veterans and the impact of its programs and services. To qualify, schools must offer at least one of several veteran-focused resources, including a dedicated veteran resource center or office, an active student veterans organization, a Department of Veterans Affairs certifying official on campus, academic credit for military training or experience, or career services tailored to veterans’ needs.

TXST supports student veterans through a range of programs and resources designed to ease the transition from military service to higher education and promote academic success. The Veterans Alliance of Texas State helps military-connected students navigate this transition, while the Veteran Academic Success Center provides peer-to-peer academic guidance and veteran-specific resources. Bobcat Cadence connects veteran students with military-friendly offices and staff across campus, and the Veteran Advisory Council coordinates recruitment, retention and events among university departments.

These university initiatives complement federal programs and community organizations that provide additional resources, support and opportunities for veterans at TXST.

Through this recognition, TXST joins institutions across the country acknowledged for their efforts to help veterans and transitioning service members navigate educational opportunities and prepare for success beyond the classroom.
