Texas State jumped 18 spots from 2025 to 2026 in the latest World University Ranking report.

Texas State University has earned recognition as one of the world’s leading institutions in the 2026 Global 2000 list published by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), ranking in the top 6.1% of 21,291 universities worldwide.

TXST is now ranked No. 1,298 worldwide and No. 232 nationally. Among universities in the United States and Canada, TXST ranked No. 261.

CWUR publishes one of the world’s largest academic ranking systems and evaluates institutions using objective, outcome-based indicators across four key areas: education, employability, faculty, and research.

Unlike many ranking systems, CWUR does not rely on surveys or university-submitted data. Instead, the organization uses 81 million data points to assess academic performance and institutional excellence across more than 21,000 universities worldwide.

TXST’s placement in the rankings reflects the university’s continued momentum in research, student success, and workforce preparation while strengthening its reputation on a global scale.

Headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, CWUR is a leading consulting organization providing policy advice, strategic insights, and consulting services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes.
