Texas State University jumped 61 spots on U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-2027 Best Global Universities Ranking, tying for No. 1,531.
The rankings compare institutions worldwide based on academic research performance and international reputation.
In addition to the overall list, TXST achieved rankings in several sub-categories:
- No. 855 (tie) in Environment/Ecology;
- No. 1,184 (tie) in Clinical Medicine;
- No. 1,278 (tie) in Engineering.
The complete list ranks 2,250 institutions from the U.S. and more than 100 other countries based on 13 indicators that measure their academic research performance and their global and regional reputations. Students can use these rankings to explore the higher education options that exist beyond their own countries' borders and to compare key aspects of schools’ research missions.
