Texas State University’s Elise Lambert, Ph.D., clinical assistant professor in the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management, has been selected as a 2026–2027 Fulbright U.S. Scholar to France.
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, administered through the Institute of International Education and the Fulbright Program, provides faculty and researchers with opportunities to teach, conduct research and engage in international collaboration. Fulbright Scholar Awards are among the most prestigious fellowships in academia.
Lambert brings more than 11 years of healthcare industry experience to her research and teaching at TXST. Her interdisciplinary background spans health information management, health informatics, healthcare finance, business administration and management. Her scholarship focuses on the intersection of technology, people, and healthcare, with particular emphasis on technology adoption, artificial intelligence, data analytics, leadership, and health informatics education.
Some of Lambert’s recent research examines the design, implementation, and use of artificial intelligence in healthcare through social and organizational perspectives. Her work includes research on AI privacy and security, patient portal use and large language models, AI literacy among health informatics professionals, and the role of AI literacy in competency-based education and workforce development.
Lambert has also contributed to the growing conversation surrounding responsible AI in healthcare through scholarly publications, book chapters, and presentations at organizations, including the American Medical Informatics Association, the CAHIIM Higher Education Summit, the Consortium of Baccalaureate and Graduate HIIM Educators, and the Texas Health Informatics Alliance.
Her Fulbright experience in France builds on her existing international engagement. Lambert is co-developing the Shaping Healthcare Innovation for the Future of Technology (SHIFT) program in Saint-Étienne, France. The multidisciplinary education abroad program emphasizes digital health and prepares students to address healthcare challenges through innovative technologies and collaboration across academic disciplines.
As a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, Lambert will have the opportunity to expand her international research and professional collaborations while representing TXST on the global stage. Her engagement abroad will also create opportunities to strengthen research partnerships, develop international exchange relationships and bring new perspectives and experiences back to the TXST community. As of Sept. 1, 2026, Lambert will transition from clinical assistant professor to a tenure-track assistant professor position.
