TXST to host inaugural research showcase to celebrate innovation and discovery

Texas State University will host its inaugural Research Showcase on Monday, Feb. 10, at the LBJ Student Center.

Texas State University will host its inaugural Research Showcase on Monday, Feb. 10, at the LBJ Student Center. This event will celebrate the groundbreaking research, scholarship, and creative activity of TXST faculty and staff, featuring an exciting lineup of exhibits, workshops, and expert panels.

Books and Patents Luncheon (11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.)

The luncheon will celebrate TXST’s book authors in fiscal years 2023-2024 and patent holders from fiscal years 2020-2024. During fiscal year 2024, 61 faculty members published 78 books, covering a wide range of disciplines from literature and history to science and technology. Additionally, between fiscal years 2020 and 2024, 15 faculty members secured 14 patents, advancing fields such as computer science, engineering, physics, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology, and mathematics.

Innovation and Commercialization Exhibit (1-2 p.m.)

During the exhibit, TXST innovators will present their groundbreaking technologies and inventions. Attendees can explore their research and network with faculty and industry professionals.

Innovation and Discovery Workshop (2-4 p.m.)

During the workshop, four teams of four faculty researchers will write white papers for external funding on AI, semiconductors, sustainability, and digital humanities. This interactive session will feature discussions on cutting-edge research and its impact on industry and society.

Sponsors and Partners Panel (4-5:30 p.m.)

During the panel, program directors and industry experts both online and in person will lead a discussion about funding initiatives and futures followed by a Q&A session.

President’s Reception for Research (6-8 p.m.)

The reception will honor TXST faculty and staff members receiving external funding for research in fiscal year 2024 and highlight the impactful work faculty members are completing.

TXST has tripled total research expenditures over the past decade, reaching $165 million in fiscal year 2024. The university is on track to achieve R1 Carnegie status by 2027, placing TXST in the top 20% of research universities nationwide. This growth underscores the university’s commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and impacting society at a national level.
