Dr. Eduardo Sanchez to discuss COVID, opportunity for health equity

SAN MARCOS – Dr. Eduardo Sanchez, chief medical officer for prevention at the American Heart Association (AHA), will discuss "The COVID Pandemic and Opportunity for Health Equity" 5-7 p.m. April 7 as part of the University Lecture Series at Texas State University.
The virtual event is free and open to the public, although advance registration is required at https://bit.ly/30u53yh. The program is sponsored by the School of Family and Consumer Sciences, College of Applied Arts and the Faculty Senate.
At the AHA, Sanchez leads COVID-19-related activities. Prior to joining the AHA, Sanchez served as vice president and chief medical officer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, director of the Institute for Health Policy at the University of Texas School of Public Health, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services from 2004 to 2006 and commissioner of the Texas Department of Health from 2001 to 2004.
