Texas State to host Technology Enhanced Infrastructure Summit

SAN MARCOS – Texas State University, along with the College of Science and Engineering, the Ingram School of Engineering and the civil engineering program, will host the Technology Enhanced Infrastructure (TEI) Summit Sept. 5 at the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Park.

The TEI Summit provides Texas State with a venue to formally launch the new civil engineering program. It also provides the Texas civil engineering professional community, along with others in the asset management industry, a forum to learn how technology is being applied to the life cycle monitoring and maintenance of civil infrastructure. 

The summit will provide engineering professionals an opportunity to meet students in the first class of civil engineers at Texas State. Graduates of the new civil engineering program will have a strong foundation in traditional CE principles, but unlike other programs, the curriculum at Texas State was holistically built upon on the concept of TEI. As students progress through the curriculum, they will study device programming, secure data transfer and storage, predictive analytic tools and application-based maintenance protocols. The primary objective of this innovative undergraduate program is to prepare students to enter the civil engineering workforce with an ability to implement "smart technology” solutions.
