SAN MARCOS – The spring 2019 issue of Hillviews is now available in print and digital format. The free digital issue is available at www.hillviews.txstate.edu.
The spring 2019 theme, “Creative Expression,” looks at the ways that Texas State University is transforming students’ ideas and dreams into reality. Stories run the gamut, from success in fashion merchandising to B.F.A. graduates finding their niche in the movie industry, the creative challenges involved in the construction industry and the accomplishments of Department of Engineering Technology graduates.
Other stories include “Public Art,” which takes readers on a photo journey across both campuses to see commissioned works of art and “Things are blooming in the living library,” which tours a scenic Department of Agriculture laboratory that draws wildlife and quiet reflection.
“Lawyer turned novelist” follows alumnus Mark Gimenez, whose dream of writing novels started in a writing class at Texas State but didn’t come to fruition until he worked for several years as an attorney. Another story looks at two sound recording technology graduates who have opened a recording studio in South Texas, as well as a geography alumnus who uses his off-hours to record artists in his state-of-the-art home studio.
Also inside Hillviews, meet Jaylen Hubbard. He has already earned one bachelor’s degree in economics but as he works toward his second degree, he is playing on the Men’s Baseball team.
Hillviews, published three times a year, is distributed to members of the Alumni Association and the Family Association. The free digital edition is available to everyone.
