Fall issue of Hillviews looks at ‘The Big Picture’ — paying for college
December 13, 2019
SAN MARCOS – The fall 2019 Hillviews magazine is now available in print and digital format. The free digital issue is available at www.hillviews.txstate.edu.
“The Big Picture: Paying it Forward” is the theme for fall and looks at the many resources that enable students to pay their way, including scholarships, grants and work-study. Within the pages of Hillviews, you will meet recent graduates and those who have gone on to pursue their advanced degrees and careers.
Financial Aid and Scholarship programs include Bobcat BOSS, the Bobcat Promise and several tools found online at Bobcat Gold that lead to external scholarship applications. There are several re-entry scholarships for returning students, from within and outside the university.
Anniversary stories also dominate this issue of Hillviews. There is a pictorial and story of the 100th anniversary of Texas State Bands, the 20th anniversary of the Center for Texas Music History, the 30th anniversary of Mathworks, a center of innovation and excellence for math education; and a story about the origin of the residential Living-Learning Communities, which turns 25.
In Athletics, meet basketball player Nijal Pearson and longtime friends and rivals Tommy Cox and Jim Rackley, both recently honored as top Texas high school football coaches.
Also inside, a special 10-page 2019 Donor Report updates fundraising activities for the year and acknowledges those whose generosity makes scholarships and opportunities available at Texas State.
