Texas State sets multiple enrollment records for spring 2025

The number of continuing students has increased by 5%, or 1,698 students, compared to last spring. 

Texas State University has set several new enrollment records for the spring 2025 semester, led by a total enrollment of 37,567 students, surpassing the 37,000 mark for the spring semester for the first time. 

This represents a 5.9% increase, or 2,082 students, over spring 2024. The previous spring semester enrollment record was set in 2017 with 35,847 students.

The growth in enrollment can be attributed to the university's commitment to student satisfaction and success. The number of continuing students has increased by 5%, or 1,698 students, compared to last spring. 

Other spring enrollment highlights include:

  • The total number of new students, including First-Time in College (FTIC), transfers, master’s and doctoral students, reached 1,760, a 24% increase (343 more students) compared to spring 2023.
  • New FTIC students have increased by 10.3%, with 256 new freshmen.
  • New undergraduate transfers have risen by 20%, with 992 students compared to 826 last year.
  • New master’s students have surged by 47%, with 503 new enrollments, an increase of 163 students.
  • Enrollment at the Texas State Round Rock Campus has grown by 21%, reaching 2,193 students.
  • The new spring semester credit hours have increased by 7.2%, totaling 472,207 credit hours.
  • The total international enrollment for the spring has risen by 50%, with 1,555 students, an increase of 524.

One of the most impressive numbers of the spring semester is a persistence rate of 93% for first-time college students. This measure, considered an important indicator of academic success, tracks the number of first-time students who enrolled in the fall semester and returned in the spring to continue their education.

Other areas with significant enrollment jumps included the College of Science and Engineering, which increased 21.9%, or 1,466 students, over 2024 and is the largest college at TXST with a total enrollment of 8,145. The McCoy College of Business saw a 10.1% increase, or 466 students, for a total enrollment of 5,062. The College of Health Professions saw a 16.4% increase, or 620 students, for a total enrollment of 4,405.
