Attacca Quartet, Ensemble-in-Residence at Texas State, wins Grammy Award

Attacca Quartet, the Ensemble-in-Residence in the School of Music at Texas State University, won Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards.

The Attacca Quartet has served as the Ensemble-in-Residence at Texas State since 2016.

As Ensemble-in-Residence, the quartet gives performances, collaborates with Texas State’s world-class music faculty and provides a unique opportunity for students to work closely with an internationally touring ensemble.

The Attacca Quartet has established a reputation as one of America's premier young performing ensembles. Its list of accomplishments includes first prize at the 7th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2011, Listeners’ Choice Award at the 2011 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, the 2013 National Federation of Music Clubs Centennial Chamber Music Award, the Arthur Foote Award from the Harvard Musical Association and the Lotos Prize in the Arts. Previous engagements include a season as the Quartet-in-Residence for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The Attacca Quartet formed at the Juilliard School in 2003. Members Amy Schroeder and Keiko Tokunaga, violin, Nathan Schram, viola, and Andrew Yee, cello, made their professional debut in 2007 as part of the Artists International Winners Series in Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall.
