Texas State’s Daris Hale receives Fulbright Scholar appointment to Nepal

Daris Hale, a senior lecturer in the School of Music at Texas State University, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program grant to teach and research music at Tribhuvan University and the Nepal Music Center in Nepal.
Hale is the first TXST Fulbright Scholar to travel abroad since 2019.
Hale is one of more than 1,200 Americans who will travel abroad for the2024-2025 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Recipients of Fulbright grantsare selected on the basis of academic and professional achievement.
“I’m excited to be working with the talented Nepali composers and musicians to universalize their music and cultural heritage,” Hale said.
The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship internationaleducational exchange program and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries. The program operates in more than 160 countriesworldwide.
