Oleg Komogortsev, an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at Texas State University, will be a keynote speaker at the 12th annual International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) International Conference on Biometrics June 4-7 in Crete, Greece.
Komogortsev will speak on "Eye Movement Detection Sensors, Biometrics and Health Assessment," exploring the idea that the availability of eye movement detection sensors is set to explode, with billions of units available in future virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) platforms. In his talk Komogortsev will discuss the past, present and future of such sensors and their applications. He will discuss both applications that initially necessitate the presence of such sensors in VR/AR devices, along with additional uses that would be enabled by those sensors such as eye movement-driven biometrics and health assessment.
The IAPR International Conference on Biometrics is a premier forum for the presentation of new advances and research results in the fields of biometrics. The conference will have a broad scope and will showcase papers that advance biometric technologies, sensor design, feature extraction and matching algorithms, analysis of security and privacy, and evaluation of social impact of biometrics technology. Topics of interest include all areas of current biometrics research and applications.
