Eduardo Perez recognized with 2018 MIF Early Career Award

Eduardo Perez, an associate professor in the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University, has been honored with the 2018 Minority Issues Forum (MIF) Early Career Award from the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.

The award recognizes scholarly researchers who have shown exceptional work from the beginning of their academic or industrial career. Perez received a National Science Foundation grant in 2017 to complete a year-long research project lasting until the end of 2018. 

Perez’s research will enhance the operations of food banks and their partners by collecting data to model the most recent conditions of these facilities after Hurricane Harvey. The data analysis will be performed to gather useful information, suggesting conclusions and supporting decision making for the operations of food banks before and after natural disasters strike. 

Perez is the founder of the Integrated Modeling and Optimization for Service Systems (iMOSS) research lab at Texas State. IMOSS is a collaborative education and research center that supports undergraduate and graduate research along with professional services to improve the understanding, modeling, evaluation and optimization of complex service-delivery systems.
