Mathworks at Texas State University is currently accepting applications for its half-day Junior Summer Math Camp (JSMC).  The JSMC is a multi-level two-week camp that encourages students of all mathematical levels and abilities.

At the camp, students explore math problems together and share in mathematical exploration and discovery. Students in younger grade levels are introduced to algebra concepts through play-acting, while the older grade levels use ideas in algebra, geometry, number theory, logic and discrete math to solve a wide variety of interesting problems. Students work both individually and in groups and learn not only how to solve a problem, but also why things work.

The JSMC is from 8 a.m.- noon June 8-19 at San Marcos High School. The camp is open to students in grades 3-8, and includes breakfast, lunch and a snack. Bus service is available for San Marcos CISD students.

Tuition is $400, with scholarships available for students with financial need, ensuring that any student can attend the JSMC regardless of financial background. Scholarships are provided by the Lions Club, the Sarah and Ernest Butler Endowed Scholarship, the Jeff and Gali Kodosky Endowed Scholarship, the Herb Carter Endowed Scholarship, The Ronya Kozmetsky Endowed Scholarship, The Mathworks Endowment, Austin Community Foundation, HEB Tournament of Champions, Sarah Yaeger, Mathworks Alumni, and others.

JSMC applications may be completed online at https://www.txstate.edu/mathworks/camps/applications/JSMC-application/jsmcapplicationonline_2020.html

The official application deadline is May 15, but students are encouraged to apply much earlier. For more information, contact Mathworks at (512) 245-3439 or at mathworks@txstate.edu
