Leading C. S. Lewis scholars headline Spring Lecture Series at Texas State

Two of the world’s leading C. S. Lewis scholars will speak at Texas State University as part of the C.S. Lewis Spring Lecture Series.  

Michael Ward, of Oxford University, will speak at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. Andrew Lazo, who recently transcribed and published an early draft of C.S. Lewis’s autobiography, will speak at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9. Both lectures will take place in Centennial Hall, Room G02.

"These two speakers are among the top C.S. Lewis scholars in the world," said Texas State University System Regents' and University Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Steven Beebe, who teaches a class about Lewis and communication at Texas State. "Their presentations are always masterful and are not to be missed."

Ward will speak on the topic, "C.S. Lewis on Mercury: The God of Communication." Ward has published and edited several books about Lewis, including his ground-breaking Planet Narnia, in which he documents Lewis' secret Narnia Code embedded in the Chronicles of Narnia. He has also edited the widely-praised Cambridge Companion to C.S. Lewis.

Lazo will speak on the topic, "C.S. Lewis: An 'Introduction.'" Lazo will explore how Lewis, as an audience-centered communicator, intentionally connects with his readers in the introductions of his books and essays. Lazo recently served as the Mythopoeic Society’s Scholar Guest of Honor and presented lectures at Oxford University for the Oxbridge C.S. Lewis Foundation conference.
