Step Up for State campaign success with over $250,000 raised
Eliseo Ceja | October 10, 2018
For 1,899 minutes on October 3 and 4, the Texas State Community came together to support the third annual Step Up for State online fundraising event. With the common goal of brightening the future for Texas State, 3,252 gifts were made to raise more than $250,000 for university programs and initiatives.
Over the two days of giving, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends stepped up and gave to 51 projects from across 17 colleges. The Step Up for State Headquarters, located at the LBJ Student Center Mall, was filled with maroon and gold as students had the opportunity to donate to the college of their preference and share stories on why they stepped up. Projects eligible to receive gifts used a variety of tactics to spread awareness of their campaign and cause. Texas State’s Mariachi Nueva Generacion performed in hopes of increasing donations to provide Mariachi minors with scholarships. The online campaign was also fueled through an ongoing social media and online presence.
Donors had a chance to make gifts in seven categories: Scholarships, Student Opportunities, Student Support Projects, Research and Creativity, Community Impact Efforts, Alumni and Athletic Initiatives, and Annual Funds.
Texas State thanks all of those who made a gift and helped promote Step Up for State. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
